Standbys

A standby marks that a cue is coming, a page or two before it fires. It reads like “SB LX10” and draws a coloured stripe in the gutter from the standby all the way down to the cue itself.

Adding a standby

Standbys live in the same Add Cue panel you use for cues: pick the SB chip.

  • To choose the target first, select the cue or group you want the standby for, then open Add Cue and pick SB. The Cue field is already filled in with your selection. Tap the page where the SB should sit.
  • To add it first and choose later, open Add Cue, pick SB without selecting anything, and tap the page. The SB goes in as a plain “SB”. Double-tap it (or select it and tap Edit ) to open its properties, then tap the Cue field and pick a target.

The Pick target list only shows cues and groups that come after the standby: lower down the same page, or on any later page. Groups are marked group in the list. If you drop an SB below the cue it was pointing at, Lx1go places it without a target and tells you, so you can pick a new one from its properties.

After each SB the panel clears the target, so the next SB can’t pick up the last one’s cue by accident.

Label and suffix

A standby has no number of its own. Its label is built from the target cue’s label: “SB LX10” points at LX10. A standby for a group lists every cue in it, for example “SB Spot 12 on + LX89”. Renumber the target and the SB follows.

The optional Suffix field adds your own words to the end: “SB LX10 stand by”, or “SB ready” on an SB with no target.

Gutter stripe

A coloured stripe runs down the cue-side gutter from the SB, through any pages in between, and ends at the target cue. It sits in the outermost lane of the gutter, further out than any spot or mic trail, and never crosses into the script text. Two SBs on the same page get their own lanes so the stripes don’t overlap.

A standby has no connecting line into the text. The stripe is what links it to its cue.

The badge and stripe colour come from the Standby text style. Change it in Setup → Styles to recolour every standby in the show (see Styles).

Where standbys don’t appear

  • The cue list
  • XLSX / CSV cue list exports
  • The PDF’s cue list pages
  • Navigation → Cues
  • Renumber cues
  • Crew Link’s upcoming cues

Standbys only appear on the script pages themselves, on screen and in the PDF script export.

Show mode

Call a standby like any other cue: tap it to move it through its states (see Show Mode). Its state is separate from the target cue’s, so calling the SB doesn’t change the cue it points at.
