Managing Pages

Open ⋮ menu → Page thumbnails for a grid of every page with live previews. Tap any page to jump to it in the edit screen. Each thumbnail carries small badges:

• Red border and dot — the page has cues.
• Amber bookmark ribbon (top-right) — the page is bookmarked.
• Blue pen badge — the page has drawn strokes.
• Amber music-note badge (top-left) — the page is tagged as a song.

Selecting pages

Long-press a thumbnail (or use the selection button ) to enter selection mode, then tap pages to add them to the selection. Select all is in the app bar. With pages selected you can:

• Duplicate — copies each selected page (image and all mark-up), inserting each copy right after its original. Works on any number of pages at once.
• Delete — asks you to confirm (Delete Pages), then permanently removes the selected pages and renumbers the rest, with a progress dialog on large shows. This cannot be undone, so consider backing up the show first. A show must keep at least one page, so you can’t delete every page.
• Add blank page after — with one page selected, inserts an empty page after it (for inserts, notes pages, or rewrites).

Reordering

Reorder happens inside selection mode:

1. Tap the select button (or long-press any thumbnail) to enter selection mode.
2. Tap one or more thumbnails to check them. The order you tap in is the order they’ll land in after the move.
3. Long-press one of the checked pages and drag it onto the target position. All selected pages move together as a contiguous block, in the order they were selected. Search text, cues, blocking, drawings, page backups, and bookmarks all travel with their pages.

Splitting a show

The Page thumbnails ⋮ menu’s Split show entry divides the show in two, for example to break a full script into Act 1 and Act 2 prompt books.

1. Choose Split show. A banner reads “Tap the last page of Act 1” (tap Cancel in the banner to back out).
2. Tap the last page you want to keep. You can’t split before page 2 or on the last page — each half needs at least one page.
3. Split Show? confirms which pages stay and which move. Tap Split.

The open show keeps the pages up to the one you tapped. The rest move to a new show named <show name> - Act 2 on the home screen, which you can rename.

Inserting a blank page

The Insert blank page button in the grid’s app bar adds a blank page anywhere: enter the page to insert after (0 for the very beginning). With a page selected, Add blank page after does the same for that spot.

From the edit screen you don’t need the grid: ⋮ menu → Add blank page inserts one after the current page, and ⋮ menu → Delete this page removes the current page after a confirmation.

Duplicate a page

Select a page in the thumbnail grid and choose Duplicate. The copy lands immediately after the original, carrying every cue, blocking, stroke, shape, note, and scene photo with it. Search still finds text on the duplicate.

Page notes

Notes are short reminders shown in a strip above the page image. Add them with Add Note in the tool bar — see Cue List & Notes.

Exporting a PDF

You can export a show as a PDF suitable for handing to a director, producer, or reviewer. The PDF matches what you see on the tablet — page images, cues, blocking, timestamps, pen strokes, shapes, and notes. Cues and blocking are searchable text in the PDF (the reader can search and copy them), and pen strokes stay crisp at any zoom.

Start an export

From the home screen, long-press a show and choose Export PDF .

From inside a show, tap the ⋮ menu → Export PDF .

Choose what to export

• Whole show — every page from 1 to the last, in order. The default.
• Range — pick a start and end page (inclusive). Handy for exporting just Act 2 or a section a designer asked for.

The screen also has a Landscape switch. Leave it off for the normal A4 portrait page. Turn it on for a wide show where the margins are crowded — lots of cues and blocking stacked in the gutters, or several spot/dome trails running side by side — and the page turns on its side to A4 landscape. The script image itself doesn’t rotate; it stays upright and centred on the wider sheet, so the left and right gutters get much more room without shrinking the image.

Open What to include to trim what lands on the page. There’s a checkbox for blocking, one for timestamps, one for text notes (the boxes you place with Add Text), one for page notes (the strip above the image), and one row per cue category: LX, SFX, FLY, whatever your show uses. Everything starts checked, so an export made without opening this section looks exactly like it always has. Untick a box and that kind of annotation stops appearing on the pages and drops out of the matching Cue List page at the end. Handing a script to the sound designer? Untick everything but SFX and the cues and blocking notes for every other department disappear.

Either way the Export PDF screen opens. Tap Export; the screen shows “Rendering page X of Y” with a Cancel button while the PDF builds.

Save or share

When rendering finishes the screen offers three choices:

• Save to… — pick a folder on your tablet. The suggested filename is <show name> — <date>.pdf for a whole-show export or <show name> — pp <from>-<to> — <date>.pdf for a range.
• Share… — opens the system share sheet so you can email it, AirDrop it, or open it in another PDF viewer.
• Done — close the screen. You can save and share first — the screen stays open until you tap Done.

If something goes wrong, the screen shows the error with Back to options so you can try again.

What appears in the PDF

• Every page from your chosen range as a full-page image with your annotations overlaid.
• Any notes you’ve added to a page appear in a blue strip above the page image, same as in the app.
• After the last page, one Cue List page per cue category (LX, SFX, FLY, …) — each with its own table listing every cue of that category in the range, with page number, when it fires, and details. Categories with no cues in the range are skipped, so a lighting-only show only produces the LX page. Any cue whose category was deleted after the cue was placed goes on a final “Other Cues” page rather than being silently dropped. If the range has no cues at all you get a single page reading “No cues in this range.”
• A page whose image can’t be read is replaced with a placeholder page rather than stopping the export; the finished screen tells you how many pages were affected.

Known limitations (v1)

• Pressure variation in pen strokes is averaged into one width per stroke. Individual pressure-varied segments may look slightly different from the tablet.
• Script body text isn’t searchable in the PDF, though cue labels are.
• Very large shows (500+ pages) can be too much for the tablet to handle at once. Cancel and export in smaller ranges if you hit trouble.

Importing pages from another PDF

Open Page thumbnails (edit-screen ⋮ menu) and choose ⋮ → Import pages from PDF to graft pages from any PDF into the open show:

1. Pick the PDF.
2. Enter the pages to import — a range like 4-6 or a single page.
3. Enter insert after page (0 = beginning; defaults to the end).
4. Tap Import — the pages slot in at that position and everything renumbers. So importing pages 4–6 after page 2 puts the PDF’s page 4 at show page 3.

The dialog also offers interleave modes (imported pages become the even or odd pages) for merging double-sided scans. The same Page thumbnails ⋮ menu carries Scan page — scan pages with the device camera, or pick images from the gallery; each one is added at the end of the show — and Split show .
