Fly State

The Fly State screen answers the question “what’s on stage right now, and what will be on stage after the next cue?” It goes through every FLY cue in show order and shows each line’s state at a snapshot cue you pick.

Opening the screen

It’s also the first tab of the Tools hub in the edit-screen app bar (in a narrower window, ⋮ → Tools), alongside Dome Pairing and the Cue List.

Snapshot picker

The top bar has two prev/next arrows ( ) around the Snapshot after cue dropdown, listing every FLY cue in show order (cue label + page). Pick a cue to see every line’s state after that cue has fired. The Open page button beside the picker jumps straight to that cue’s page in the script.

If the show has no fly lines yet, the screen says so and points you to Setup → Fly Lines. With lines but no FLY cues, it tells you every line is still at its preset.

Filter

Below the picker: a two-way toggle.

• All lines — every fly line, whatever its state. The count on the right reads “N lines”.
• In only — hide anything that isn’t currently on stage. The count on the right tells you “X of Y on stage”.

Jumping to a page

Every row has an Open page button that opens the page where the cue that last moved that line lives. Useful for double-checking the call before you commit to a trim change.

What each row shows

Every fly line in the show gets a row:

• Row colour — the whole row is tinted by the line’s state after the snapshot cue, the same in light and dark mode:

  Row	Meaning
  Yellow	The line is in.
  Orange	This cue just flew the line in.
  Pale yellow	This cue just took the line out.
  No tint (black in dark mode)	The line was already out.
  Normal background	Dead or Reset — see the badge.

  Text on yellow and orange rows is dark so it stays readable.

• State badge — IN (primary colour), OUT (muted), DEAD (red), RESET (tertiary), or the preset text if no cue has moved it yet. Badge text is white so it reads on any row colour. A line moved by the snapshot cue itself gets a ➤ IN or ◀ OUT prefix — the arrows point in opposite directions so a run-through leaves no doubt which way the piece went. A line already IN from an earlier cue shows ⏸ IN, meaning it’s holding at trim. Together with the row colour, you can see at a glance which lines just changed on this call versus which have been in that state for a while.

• Line number and piece — from Setup → Fly Lines.

• Subtitle:

  • “Fixed / dead-hung” for fixed lines (they’re always In).
  • “Preset — no cue has moved it yet” for non-fixed lines still at their preset.
  • Otherwise the last cue that touched the line (label + page), plus the most recent trim label if the line has ever been trimmed.

How fly state is tracked

For each non-fixed line, tracking starts from the line’s preset (Setup → Fly Lines → Preset (top of show)). Every FLY cue up to and including the snapshot cue applies:

• In / Out set the state.
• Trim keeps the last In/Out state and remembers the trim label in the subtitle — it stays there through later moves until another Trim replaces it.
• Dead / Reset mark the state accordingly so the operator sees the intent.

Fixed lines (Setup → Fly Lines → Fixed / dead-hung) are always shown as In and their moves are ignored; they’re rigged, not called.
